#51 Greenery & Jung
Oops! Sorry I missed writing to you last week. I hope you’re doing well (:
I’ve been taking public transport everyday to get to places and it’s been a struggle. I forgot how crowded it can get and how hard you have to try to not brush by someone’s butt by mistake. Talking about the weather, it’s been rainy, warm, humid and windy lately. It’s lush, the flowers are in full bloom and everything is a little wild. I can’t help but take pictures of the same flowers and draw the greenery around me. Although, no picture, 4k video or painting can show you the real contrast of colours after a light drizzle. It’s almost like Indian monsoons or an early winter at a hill station.
I watched a movie called Elysium and I will not waste your time telling you anything about it because it was terrible. I’m kind of bored of all the online content garbage so really nothing new to share with you from what I saw/read online. I’m “trying” to read some essential Carl Jung writings. So far I’ve only read about how one can use their dreams to understand their interior life. I’ve listened to a few episodes from The Jungian Life. Their explanations are a bit too simplistic but I think they describe the psychological concepts succinctly and they also interpret a dream at the end of each episode which is kind of cool. But I feel like they often over-intellectualise things. I keep waiting for them to say the obvious “he’s just jealous of this other person” or another rather simple human emotion. I know two other people who tracked their dreams and they said that it was extremely insightful. So far, I’ve been able to write down exactly two of my dreams. In the last one, I constantly kept pulling out my watch that needed a new battery out of my pocket. Jung would look at folklore or symbolism to understand what the watch could mean in my dream. But I think I’m just dreaming of my to-do list. I will tell you next week if I find better insights!
Have a good week!
